Board of Directors
Naydon Sutherland, MSc, BSc, TC

Ms. Sutherland holds an MSc, BSc and Teachers’ certificate all in education. She is the co-chair for BioVoyage. She has more than 20 years experience as a teacher, lecturer, trainer, academic counselor and as an administrator. She has extensive experience in curriculum development and implementation and training of teachers.

Carmella Sye Morton, PhD

Dr. Morton holds a Ph.D in Curriculum and Instruction and is the President of RISE Education Consultants/RISE Schools, Inc. She is a former science teacher, school administrator and Senior Vice President of Education for the second largest Educational Management Organization in the country.

She is a national consultant who has worked with schools and school districts throughout the nation in all areas of school improvement, curriculum development, professional development and leadership training for both teachers and administrators. As a developer and curriculum specialist, Dr. Morton has designed programs to meet the needs of diverse student populations.

Wayne Burrows, MD, PhD

Wayne has more than 15 years of experience in medicine, biochemistry, and writing fiction and non-fiction for adults and children of various ages. He was assistant professor of OB/GYN. Wayne served on various hospital boards and other not-for-profit organizations.

Earl Cunningham, MM, BA

Earl was Acting University Director and a senior member of the vice president for institutional advancement’s staff for a major university. He was a senior member of the alumni relations staff, edited, wrote for and designed a national award-winning magazine. He was an Associate Director, and managed an 18-member staff at a major university.

Mariel Gawat, JD, MBA, MA

Mariel has more than 23 years in strategic planning; project conceptualization and development, project monitoring and evaluation, community organization and development, economic/institutional policy analyses, legal and personnel management and education. She is presently pursuing a PhD degree. She holds degrees in Law; B.S. in Agriculture (major: Agronomy); Master in Business Administration (major: Management); Master of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning (major: Regional Planning). She received the following scholarships/Awards/Honors: Scholar : President Ferdinand E. Marcos Scholarship Award; University Honors Program; Class Valedictorian (Top 1 of the Graduating Class - Academic Excellence Award). She is affiliated with Bureau of Immigration - Main Office, Intramuros, Manila; Governor, MLQU - School of Law Student Council; Rotary International, Inc - Rotary Club of Mandaluyong East, Philippines; Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners, Inc; University of the Philippines Alumni Association; Silliman University Alumni Association; and Tau Sigma Lambda Organization
