The Bioscience Summer Camp is a full day camp that is designed to provide students an opportunity to explore, discover, and extend their knowledge of science concepts, and to make them "Young Scientists". The student excellence in the field of science means helping students embrace the field of science, face challenging curriculum through advanced science courses in school, and choose science related careers, such as research and medicine.

Our goal is to promote scientific literacy through reading, writing and mathematics while challenging students to think like scientists, as they investigate the world around them. Students are challenged to ask questions, make decisions based on research and data, apply new knowledge, and communicate results effectively. The curriculum is designed by BioScience Education to further support the preparation of students meeting the 21st Century challenges; Research, Designing, Building, Testing in Science, Math and Reading.

The Bioscience Camp is designed to address the challenge of seeking ways to increase the number of students entering Science/Bioscience Careers; prepares these students to successfully pass the FCAT, and enter college to complete a degree within the sciences.

The Purpose

Using an inquiry-based science model, students will take part in reading, writing and math activities that are related to a particular event. Special emphasis will be placed on biotechnology, bioscience, biomedicine, engineering, and environmental science. Each week ends with a field trip that is sure to inspire students to explore their world and appreciate their environment. The program targets Young Scientists.
